About...

Born to Lakshmanan Nair and Thankam in the serene village of Chemancheri near Kozhikode, he completed his early education at Poilkave High School. Following his vocational higher secondary studies in electronics at Koyilandy Government Boys VHSS, he went on to earn a degree in Mathematics.

Gifted with an innate artistic flair, he excelled in painting, cartooning, and clay modelling during his school years, winning accolades in numerous competitions. His journey into photography began at the age of 15, when he picked up his first cameraโ€”a Yashica 120โ€”and learned the finer aspects of the craft under the guidance of his maternal uncles.

A self-taught news photographer, he began freelancing for several prominent dailies in Kerala, establishing himself through dedication and visual storytelling. In 2002, he joined Malayala Manorama, one of the largest newspapers in India, as a Staff Photographer. Over the years, his keen eye and journalistic instinct elevated him to the role of Picture Editor at Malayala Manorama's Thiruvananthapuram bureau.

Photography runs in the familyโ€”his younger brother, Manish Chemancheri, is also an accomplished photojournalist, currently working with Mathrubhumi Daily at its Thrissur edition.
